Actio Help

Reorganising the Work Break Down Structure (WBS)

Actio is entirely flexible in terms of structuring and restructuring the shape of the project. It automatically adjusts the contents of all the folders and sub-actions to reflect the new structure. This means you can use Actio to effectively brainstorm your project - listing all the items you need included and then reorganising those items into a WBS that fits your needs. You can add to and restructure your project at any time.

Demote and Promote Actions

Actions can be demoted to sub-Actions or promoted to master-Actions (folders).

Demote Promote
Menu:Actio Menu > DemoteAction Menu > Promote
Keyboard:Tab  Shift+Tab
Button:

Move Actions within or across Projects

You can drag-and-drop or duplicate one or more actions or folders to new positions in the WBS.

To move between action items - drag the action(s) up or down - a bar <graphic> with a single arrow will show where the action(s) can be dropped.

To move into folders - drag the action(s) over another action or collapsed folder - the position indicator will change to a box <graphic> with a double arrow around that action with a pointer.

To expand or collapse folders whilst dragging, hold the mouse momentarily over the disclosure triangle <graphic>, it will open or close to show or hide the contents.

Note: To duplicate the actions, hold down the Option key whilst dragging and dropping. This will create exact replicas of all elements of the Actions and Folders that are dragged in the new position.

Move Actions across Projects (requires Actio Unlimited)

You can drag-and-drop or duplicate one or more actions or folders to new positions in the WBS of another project.

If the other project is already open, simply drag the items to the tab or window for that project. Continue to move down into that project to the position where you want the items placed.

Note: This also works for duplicating items into another project - just hold down the Option key when dragging.

Drag into a New Project (requires Actio Unlimited)

Drag the items to the plus tab <graphic> which will appear in the tab bar at the top of the screen. Continue to drag down into the new project into the box that states “Drop items here to create a new project.” When the box border turns blue, you can release the mouse and a new project will be created. Name the project by clicking into the project title box and hitting enter.

Note: You can also duplicate items into a new project by holding down the Option key when dragging.

Impact of Reorganising

Note that reorganising tasks will automatically update any parents or children to reflect the newly positioned contents.
